Clinic and three employees indicted for healthcare fraud

Ashley Collin Walkes, owner of Medic Management, a clinic in Port Arthur, TX, Medic Management employees Dr. Isam Nazmi Anabtawiand Kristi Rose, and the company itself are facing multiple counts of healthcare fraud, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
According to the indictment, Medic Magement, under the guidance of Walkes, Anabatawi, and Rose, billed Medicare and Medicaid for office visits that were never provided and physical therapy services provided by unsupervised, unlicensed personnel. The physical therapy services were billed as if provided by Anabtawi.
According to the DOJ, Medic Management billed Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance for $7.5 million worth of physical therapy and received approximately $4.2 million. The company also billed those entities $2.5 million for allegedly inflated office visits and was paid $633,749.
