OIG issues Semiannual Report to Congress
On December 3, the OIG issued its Semiannual Report to Congress for April 1–September 30 of fiscal year 2008.
CMS issues proposed decision memos for surgical never events
On December 2, CMS issued three proposed decision memos for never events in which it proposed not to cover certain preventable surgical errors. CMS will accept comments regarding the proposed coverage policies until January 1, 2009.

OIG issues fiscal year (FY) 2007 annual report for the Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program
On December 2, the OIG released the FY 2007 annual report for the Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program, a joint effort of the Attorney General and the OIG.
CMS posts transcripts of ICD-10-CM/PCS conference calls
CMS has posted on its Web site transcripts of the ICD-10-CM/PCS conference calls it sponsored for hospital staff and other Part A and Part B providers in October and November.
