TX cardiologist arrested for healthcare fraud

On December 1, Fabian Aurignac, a cardiologist in McAllen, TX, was arrested in Austin for allegedly defrauding the Medicare and Medicaid programs, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
The eight-count indictment claims Aurignac billed Medicare and Medicaid for medical services that were not rendered, and used unlicensed foreign doctors and medical personnel.
According to the press release, Aurignac faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, if convicted.
