ICD-10 is no longer that monster over the horizon, under the bed, or in the closet. Years of speculation came to a sudden end August 15, when the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released its proposed regulation for the transition to ICD-10-CM for diagnostic coding affecting inpatient and outpatient settings and ICD-10-PCS for inpatient procedures only.

You have three years to get ready, unless this timetable changes in the final rule.
