Ask these questions about your compliance program
Healthcare Auditing Weekly, October 7, 2008
An effective auditor acts quickly to interpret new information and educate staff and providers when federal regulators issue new reports, guidance, and regulations. Often these complex documents must be interpreted and analyzed to determine how they affect an organization. This again requires knowledge of how an organization operates as well as the ability to interpret and understand regulations and government communication. Ask the following questions of yourself and your program:
- How do you work to review and identify the issues of which staff and providers should be aware of?
- Do you receive, interpret, and distribute reports to those affected, along with the related regulations or law?
- Do you provide educational programs and question-an-answer forums?
- Do processes inside the organization change as the result of new regulations or laws?
