CMS issues fiscal year (FY) 2009 update to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), Long Term Care Hospital (LTCH) PPS, and Inpatient Psychiatric Facility (IPF) PPS
On October 3, CMS issued a transmittal implementing FY 2009 changes for IPPS hospitals. The transmittal also addresses changes to MS-DRGs and ICD-9-CM coding that affects LTCH PPS and IPF PPS.
Effective date: Discharges on or after October 1, 2008
Implementation date: October 6, 2008

CMS issues quarterly update to laboratory National Coverage Determination (NCD) edits
On October 2, CMS released a transmittal implementing the October 2008 update to the laboratory NCD edits.
Effective date: October 1, 2008
Implementation date: October 6, 2008

- I am very disappointed in our Congress the very peolpe who's main concern is to protect their constituents have failed the American peolpe by passing the heallth care bill without knowing what it actually contains. It is also irresponsible of them to lower medicare fees which are already to low ,it would nice however if the goverment would pay 21.3% of the Doctors overhead expenses.
