The details of the transition to ICD-10 are obviously critically important to hospitals. In order to assist hospitals in planning for this transition, CMS is sponsoring a special conference call for hospital staff from 12:30–2:30 p.m. (Eastern) Tuesday, October 14. According to CMS, the call will address:
- How ICD-10 differs from ICD-9-CM
- Factors providers should consider when planning to update systems with ICD-10 codes
- Other issues relating to reporting, system updates, and training
Given the importance of this change, all hospitals should make sure that they have one or more representatives participate on the call. There is no cost to participate on the call; however, in order to receive the dial-in information for the call, you must pre-register for the call at http://www2.eventsvc.com/palmettogba/101408. Registration will close at 12:30 p.m. (Eastern) October 13, 2008, or when the available space has been filled.
