New Hampshire ambulance company fined $1M for false claims

Rockingham Regional Ambulance Inc., based in Nashua, NH, agreed to pay $958,000 to resolve claims the company improperly billed Medicare and Medicaid for non-emergency services, according to The Rockingham (NH) News.
According to authorities, Rockingham Regional Ambulance Inc. used the billing code designated for emergency services when it provided non-emergency transportation.
In addition to paying the federal and state government $882,000 and $76,000 respectively, Rockingham Regional Ambulance Inc. will enter into a corporate integrity agreement with the Office of Inspector General.
