Technologists who use analog mammography units generally achieve four-view exams easily with limited need for additional views. This is not always the case with digital mammography.
Many technologists find that a four-view digital exam simply isn’t possible on certain patients because of the size of the detectors on the new equipment.
This presents a problem at some facilities because, although technologists want to ensure that they aren’t missing breast tissue, additional views might make it more difficult for a radiologist to interpret the exam.
