Those of you who were feeling a little nervous about the September 1 deadline for implementation of the new ABN form can relax a little (at least for now). With no fanfare (and no transmittal formally announcing the change), CMS pushed the implementation deadline back six months to March 1, 2009.
We were alerted to this change last week by a reader, Michelle Elliott at UAMS Medical Center (thanks Michelle!), who confirmed the revised deadline with Charlayne D. Van at CMS. Also, CMS has now changed the informal announcement on its ABN Web page to reflect the new deadline.
