CMS issues guidance on the use of Supplementary Security Income (SSI) data for cost reporting purposes
On August 8, CMS issued a transmittal clarifying that hospitals may elect to use either their fiscal year (FY) 2005 or FY 2006 SSI ratio to file cost reports that would otherwise be submitted with the FY 2006 SSI ratio.
Effective Date: May 5, 2008
Implementation Date: September 8, 2008

CMS proposes to maintain existing National Coverage Determination (NCD) for colorectal cancer screening
On August 8, CMS issued a transmittal proposing not to expand the NCD for colorectal cancer screening to include coverage of PreGen-Plus, a commercially available screening DNA stool test.
Effective Date: April 28, 2008
Implementation Date: August 25, 2008
