CMS issues National Coverage Decision (NCD) for FDG PET scans for infection and inflammation
 
On July 18, CMS issued an NCD for FDG PET scans for infection and inflammation in which it maintained its noncoverage of FDG PET scans for chronic osteomyelitis, infection of hip arthroplasty, and fever of unknown origin.

CMS issues proposed decision memo for thermal intradiscal procedures

On July 15, CMS issued a proposed decision memo for thermal intradiscal procedures. CMS determined that thermal intradiscal procedures are not reasonable and necessary for the treatment of low back pain and proposed to issue a national noncoverage determination.
