CMS issues national coverage decision (NCD) on blood-derived products for treatment of chronic non-healing wounds
On April 22, CMS issued an NCD announcing that the following blood-derived products for the treatment of chronic non-healing wounds will continue to be noncovered:
- Autologous platelet derived growth factor for the treatment of chronic non-healing cutaneous wounds
- Autologous platelet rich plasma for the treatment of chronic non-healing cutaneous wounds
- Treatments using becaplermin, a non-autologous growth factor for chronic non-healing wounds
