Washington incorporated some, but not all, audit recommendations
Healthcare Auditing Weekly, OIG, April 22, 2008
In a follow-up audit of Washington’s Medicaid drug rebate program, the OIG found that, as of June 30, 2006, Washington had incorporated the OIG’s prior audit recommendations regarding the establishment of:
- formal policies and procedures for its drug rebate program
- internal controls for segregation of duties and updating of subsidiary ledger accounts
The State also had instituted controls over and accountability for collecting rebates on physician-administered, single-source drugs. However, they had not fully incorporated the recommendations for:
- management oversight of account adjustments and writeoffs
- interest verification
- dispute resolution
