A Cleveland psychiatrist submitted more than 6,000 false claims to Medicare and TennCare programs and will pay $1.1 million as part of a consent judgment, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
Gulshan Sultan, MD, allegedly billed Medicare and TennCare for services that were performed by a nurse who did not have the required psychiatric training. Sultan also allegedly billed for face-to-face time-based psychotheraphy services she did not perform.
Sultan agreed to the consent judgment to settle claims in the lawsuit and administrative claims by Medicare.
