CMS continues national noncoverage of FDG positron emission tomography (PET) for chronic osteomyelitis, infection of hip arthroplasty, and fever of unknown origin

On March 19, CMS issued a decision memo announcing that FDG PET will continue to be noncovered for the following indications:

  • Chronic osteomyelitis
  • Infection of hip arthroplasty
  • Fever of unknown origin

CMS continues national noncoverage of autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) for treatment of chronic non-healing wounds

On March 19, CMS issued a decision memo announcing that PRP will continue to be noncovered for the following indications:

  • Chronic non-healing cutaneous wounds
  • Acute surgical wounds when the autologous PRP is applied directly to the closed incision
  • Dehiscent wounds

CMS awards National Government Services Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) contract for Connecticut and New York

On March 18, CMS issued a press release announcing that it has awarded National Government Services a five-year MAC contract for the administration of both Part A and Part B claims in Connecticut and New York.
