CMS issues April inpatient rehabilitation facility PPS Pricer
On March 14, CMS issued a transmittal announcing the release of the April Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility PPS pricer software.

CMS issues additional guidance regarding use of modifier -JW
On March 14, CMS issued a transmittal announcing additional instructions regarding the use of modifier -JW when processing all drugs except competitive acquisition program drugs. Local contractors may require providers to report modifier -JW to identify unused drugs or biologicals from single use vials or single use packages that are appropriately discarded.
Effective date: January 1, 2008

CMS announces latest waived tests under CLIA
On March 14, CMS issued a transmittal announcing the latest tests approved by the Food and Drug Administration as waived tests under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

On March 14, CMS issued a transmittal announcing an update to chapter 10 (Healthcare Provider/Supplier Enrollment) of the Medicare Program Integrity Manual.

CMS issues a reminder that third annual Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey ends in April
On March 10, CMS issued a special edition MLN Matters article announcing that the opportunity to participate in the third annual Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (MCPSS) ends in April. The program is eligible to all Medicare providers and suppliers (including physicians) billing the Medicare fee-for-service program who were selected to participate in the MCPSS for 2008.

CMS announces changes to the Long Term Care Hospital PPS Pricer
On March 7, CMS issued a MLN Matters article providing further guidance on changes to the Long Term Care Hospital PPS pricer software based on the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007.
