CMS issues version 14.1 of the national correct coding initiative edits
On February 22, CMS issued a transmittal announcing the release of version 14.1 of the national correct coding initiative edits.
Effective date: April 1, 2008
Implementation date: April 7, 2008 (Note: New versions of NCCI are implemented for hospitals one quarter behind the general implementation date.)

CMS issues clarification to instructions regarding pediatric pneumococcal vaccine administration and nasal influenza virus payment
On February 22, CMS issued a transmittal announcing additional instructions regarding pediatric pneumococcal vaccine CPT code 90669, and an updated payment allowance for nasal influenza virus vaccine CPT code 90660.
Effective date: September 19, 2007 (for instructions regarding CPT code 90660 only); January 1, 2008
Implementation date: No later than March 24, 2008

CMS announces changes relating to ionized calcium test (CPT code 82330)
On February 15, CMS issued a transmittal announcing that CPT code 82330 (Calcium, ionized) will be included in the automated multi-channel chemistry code panel payment algorithm for payment purposes.
Effective date: July 1, 2008
Implementation date: July 7, 2008
