Tip: Purpose of audit surveys

The purpose of an audit survey is to identify areas of potential risk and to develop audit work to minimize this risk. During this phase, identify potential audit areas and formulate plans for reviewing and testing management controls. The survey phase gather data the audit team needs to decide on the nature, timing, and extent of detailed audit work.
