DOJ joins investigation of NJ hospitals

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it is joining the investigation into alleged False Claims Act violations by three New Jersey hospitals.
Whistleblowers claim Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton, Barnert Hospital in Paterson, and Bayonne Hospital fraudulently inflated charges to Medicare patients to obtain enhanced Medicare reimbursement. The lawsuits against the hospitals were filed under seal in 2002.
