Tip: Follow through with your compliance New Year's resolutions

Healthcare Auditing Weekly, January 29, 2008

Popular opinion suggests half of all Americans make resolutions during the New Year. But half of those who make resolutions break them or, in many cases, never even get beyond voicing them.

Still, resolutions can be a powerful tool for professional and organizational growth if they are used effectively. Despite all the failures, New Year's resolutions can help many people accomplish goals.

With that thought in mind, here are five steps to help you through with your compliance New Year's resolutions:

  • Brainstorm your resolutions list
  • Set a goal for individual and organizational improvements
  • Make sure your goal is realistic
  • Set interim goals
  • Think now about what you will do and how you will respond when there are setbacks
