All the technology in the world won't help your practice if the data quality is poor. Here are some tips to improved patient-centered care taken from the December issue of Strategies for Health Care Compliance:
- Talk to your patients
- Put quality control measures in place and validate the data
- Make sure you're capturing and collecting the right data to begin with
- Check that the data are easily available across the organization
- Consider offering same-day appointments, after-hours care, and patient access to electronic health records
- Think outside the realms of technology and brainstorm ways you can foster good feelings among patients
- Offer training that teaches and reminds staff members about being patient-focused
