CMS continues to concentrate on physical therapy community

During the past few years, CMS peppered the physical therapy community with transmittals designed to clarify existing regulations and curb seemingly widespread coding and billing errors. In this environment, audit and compliance professionals should make sure staff members stay current and follow appropriate regulations regarding documentation changes.
Two of the major changes are:
1. Transmittal 47 (Change Request 4364), which took effect in March 2006
2. Transmittal 63 (Change Request 5478), which took effect on January 1, 2007
