CMS issues MLN Matters article relating to its decision not to issue a national coverage determination for pulmonary rehabilitation services
On December 10, CMS issued a MLN Matters article announcing that it will not issue a national coverage determination for pulmonary rehabilitation services.

CMS issues transmittal relating to FDA certification to perform mammography services
On December 7, CMS issued a transmittal announcing that claims for mammography services will be denied if the provider is not FDA certified to perform the type of study billed (e.g., the hospital billed for digital studies when the hospital was only certified to perform film studies). Previously, these were processed as "return to provider" claims.
Effective date: April 1, 2008
Implementation date: April 7, 2008
