Tip: Preparing a report

Healthcare Auditing Weekly, December 11, 2007

Auditors should prepare written audit reports communicating the results of each audit. Written audit reports accomplish the following:

  1. Communicate the results of audits to officials at all levels of the government
  2. Make the results less susceptible to misunderstanding
  3. Make the results available for public perusal
  4. Facilitate follow-up to determine whether appropriate corrective actions have been taken.

Audit reports are required because the public expects government programs to be accountable for their actions.
