On December 7, CMS issued a MLN Matters article on its third annual survey of provider satisfaction with Medicare fee-for-service contractors (e.g., fiscal intermediaries, Medicare administrative contractors, etc.).

CMS declines to issue national coverage determination for pulmonary rehabilitation services
On December 5, CMS issued a transmittal announcing that it will not issue a national coverage determination for pulmonary rehabilitation services.
Effective date: September 25, 2007
Implementation date: January 7, 2008

On December 3, CMS issued a MLN Matters article on billing for device implantation procedures where the hospital received a partial credit from the device manufacturer for a replacement device due to premature failure or a recall of the device being replaced.

CMS announces changes to Inpatient Prospective Payment System, Long Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System, and Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Prospective Payment System
On December 3, CMS issued a MLN Matters article announcing changes to the FY 2008 Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System final rule, the Long Term Care Hospital PPS, and the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility PPS. The MLN Matters article compiles information from various previously already published regulations and transmittals relating these three payment systems.
