I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the frequently asked question system on CMS' Web site. It seems that questions sometimes are flagged as "updated" when in fact the information does not appear to have changed or an update doesn't make sense. Last week presented a good example of this problem. The FAQ system indicates that on December 7, 2007, CMS updated question 2637 on the use of the drug administration HCPCS codes Q0081, Q0083 and Q0084. However, these codes were actually deactivated for OPPS purposes effective January 1, 2005. I'm not sure why CMS would update this question since it deals with codes that have not been reportable for almost three years. I will bring this issue to CMS' attention and let everyone know if I get a response.
