A new resource will help public health professionals understand the intricacies of HIPAA and other federal and state privacy laws. The Public Health Data Standards Consortium (PHDSC) released PRISM-a privacy tool kit for public health professionals-on September 8. Although the tool aims to address the unique challenges that public sector health agencies at the state and local level face, it is also a potential resource for traditional payer- and provider-covered entities as well, says Vicki Hohner, MBA, senior consultant for Scottsdale, AZ-based FOX Systems, who helped assemble the tool.
