A Medicare fraud strike force in Southern Florida comprised of four prosecutors determined to fight Medicare fraud has now become permanent. Their first indictment on November 20 was against Reinel Pulido, who was connected to a scheme to defraud Medicare of more than $15 million.
Pulido owned and operated Soroa Medical Services Inc., a Miami infusion clinic. He allegedly submitted more than $15 million in false claims for infusions that had not been ordered by a physician and were not delivered to a Medicare patient. As a result of the submission of false claims, Medicare paid Soroa $1,565,410. If convicted he could face 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
