If your hospital, like many others, is struggling with present on admission (POA) reporting, you may want to participate in the December 17 CMS "listening session" discussed below. Topics that CMS plans to cover include:
- Hospital acquired conditions (HAC) and POA background
- Strategy for selecting the hospital-acquired conditions
- Review of the conditions included in the FY 2008 IPPS final rule
- The role of providers in documentation
- POA indicator reporting
- HAC & POA outreach and education
CMS is permitting both live and telephone participation. However, only live participants will be able to make verbal comments. Pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is December 10 (for both live and telephone participants).
