A free educational DVD on caring for end-of-life cancer patients is now available through the National Cancer Institute. The DVD-"Education in Palliative and End-of-Life-Care for Oncology" (EPEC-O) patients is a computerized curriculum consisting of commentary and lectures from leading palliative care experts, slides, and case studies.

The curriculum-produced in conjunction with Northwestern University-has a dual purpose:

  • To introduce the knowledge and skills necessary to provide state-of-the-art palliative care interventions for patients with physical, psychosocial, and spiritual suffering associated with cancer.
  • To provide education tools and materials to use in teaching palliative care core competencies.
