CMS announced a pilot effort last week to give beneficiaries improved access to Internet-based medical records, with the aim of learning how best to serve all Medicare recipients.
With the program, beneficiaries will be able to log on to a personal account through a Web site (www.mymedicare.gov) and look up information about their healthcare, including what medications they have been given and what services they have received in the past, according to a CMS press release.
The electronic Personal Health Records (PHRs) will be provided through participating health plans, CMS said. Four health plans will participate in the pilot program: HIP USA, Humana, Kaiser Permanente, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
