"Ask DR. WIKI" Web site receives praise, criticism

Several Cleveland Clinic physicians have recently launched a Web site called Ask Dr. Wiki-a medical version of Wikipedia, the online encycolpedia that users can edit. While the public can access the site, it is aimed at medical professionals, who are credentialed before they can post content. Dr. Ken Civello, a Cleveland Clinic cardiology fellow and co-founder of the site told The Plain Dealer that Ask Dr. Wiki has an edge on medical textbooks and journals in that content is free and can be updated immediately.
However, critics complain that since the founders are primarily cardiology experts, erronerous information on other topics could slip by, leading to inaccurate decisions by professionals and the public, according to The Plain Dealer.
