A new Web site launched last week allows California residents to compare more than 200 hospitals on more than 50 performance measures, including maternity care, cardiac treatment, and patient satisfaction, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
While many online report cards already exists, the developers of the Web site www.CalHospitalCompare.org say it's site is a comprehensive source for people to use when making decisions about where to receive health services.
The site uses data from CMS, the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, and other sources. Users can search a hospital by Zip code, city, county, name or medical condition. Up to five hospitals can be compared side-by-side.
