Observation unit designed to improve patient flow
A new observation unit at Park Ridge Hospital in Rochester, NY, will hold patients waiting for test results, while ED beds are used to treat other patients. The goal is to improve patient flow in the ED, according to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
The new unit will hold 28 patients in the hospital's old ED. Room dividers and televisions were added to increase patient comfort in the area.
The area will also hold patients awaiting cardiac test results. The space is part of a $27 million hospital expansion, which includes a new ED.
