Rates for Medicare managed care plans will increase by a minimum of 6.9% in 2007, the CMS said in a preliminary estimate released February 17. The increase is more than 2% higher than the 4.8% rate hike for 2006. A variety of factors, including the use of updated data, had an impact on the increase, CMS said. The 6.9% per capita rate is the national growth percentage, an average that is based on projections of Medicare fee-for-service cost growth.
