Inviting colors, suite-like patient rooms, natural light, and a family/visitors lounge are just a few of the things patients can look forward to when Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson, WI, opens in December.
The hospital made it a point to pay careful attention to aesthetics when designing the hospital, as studies have shown that patients respond to treatment faster where elements such as water, sunlight, colors, artwork, and comfortable furnishings are present. All patient rooms are large and private, and painted in a palette of light greens, blues, and beige. Each room also features a large picture window, a TV and DVD player, a spacious bathroom, and a sleeper sofa for family members.
The rooms were also designed with work flow and process improvement in mind and will have
- readily available hand-washing stations
- improved airflow to reduce the likelihood of infection
- standardized location of medical gasses and other life-saving equipment
