Nursing organizations step up to help hurricane victims

Organizations such as the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), Mississippi Nurses Association (MNA) and the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) are rallying to send much-need funds and supplies to the nurses directly affected by Hurricane Katrina. All three associations are collecting relief funds to be sent to victims; also, the NBNA is collecting and will route the following the hurricane survivors:
- Clothing. Clean clothing and shoes of varied sizes; scrubs and uniforms for nurses
- Toiletries. Diapers, diaper rash cream, Vaseline, toothbrushes and toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, wet toilettes, adult diapers, lotion, razors, etc.
- Household items. Bath clothes, towels, sheets, pillows and pillow cases, blankets, utensils, small radio, batteries, battery operated clocks, etc.
- Paper products. Toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates and cups, etc.
- Over-the-counter medications. Aspirin, vitamins, antibacterial cream, rubbing alcohol, etc.
- Food. Nonperishable foods, baby foods, and snacks
