Senate approves 'patient navigator' for chronically ill patients

The U.S. Senate recently approved a bill that would create a program to assist chronically ill patients in making decisions about their healthcare. According to CQ Today, the program, called "patient navigator," would be established in low-income and rural communities. Patients who participate in the program would receive help evaluating their treatment options, obtaining referrals, enrolling in clinical trials, and receiving financial aid.
