A French study involving osteoporosis prevention in post-menopausal women found that many don't stick with home-based exercise programs, according to Hospital Business Week. The 18-month study was designed to assess long-term compliance with a program of exercise aimed to prevent osteoporosis after an educational intervention by a physical therapist. Only 24 out of the 135 women involved in the study (or 17.8%) complied with the exercise program throughout the study period. Compliance was defined as an exercise practice rate of 50% or greater than the prescribed training. The main reason for withdrawal from the program was a lack of motivation.
