Pharmacy group submits final list of covered drugs for Medicare benefit

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) recently gave the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) its final recommendations for drugs to be covered by the new prescription drug benefit. The USP changed its original proposal by modifying some of its drug classifications, and adding new classifications for skin, eye, and antiviral drugs. The group also added new classes of medications to treat dementia and inflammatory bowel disease.
