ED staff better brace themselves-according to a new study EDs treated two to three people an hour over the past three years for injuries from falls related to holiday decorating, such as stringing and removing outdoor lights. According to a new study released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 17, 465 people went to the ED because of holiday decorating injuries. Men were more likely than women to sustain these injuries, and the majority of injuries were caused by falling from a ladder (43%) and falling from a roof (13%). Most patients were treated and released but 12% were hospitalized, says the study.
