Hospice consultation coverage included in final physician payment rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) announced its final physician payment rule. The rule covers a one-time evaluation and counseling from a hospice-employed physician to determine appropriate end-of-life care for terminally ill beneficiaries. It also includes coverage for cardiovascular disease and diabetes screening. For more information visit the CMS Web site.
