HHS awards grants to provide substance abuse and mental health services to homeless

The Department of Health & Human Services recently awarded 34 grants totaling $67.6 million to provide substance abuse and mental health services to the homeless. Agencies that received the funds include the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ, which runs a substance abuse and mental health clinic for homeless veterans; Bridge Back Recovery in Brooklyn, NY which offers outreach and case management for homeless women; and Mount Saint Joseph/Saint Elizabeth in San Francisco, which provides a residential treatment program to homeless women with or without children.
