The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) recently announced it will cover Gliadel Wafer therapy, a treatment that improves survival rates for brain cancer patients with glioma and glioblastoma tumors. According to studies, patients who receive the therapy increase their survival rates by four times. Previously, Medicare covered $15,000 of the cost of the surgery required for the therapy, but did not cover the treatment costs, totaling $12,000.
