In many facilities, staff are using e-mail to:
- slim down meeting agendas by getting some of the nonofficial business out of the way so that the meeting can be focused on meaningful discussions
- send announcements or best practice ideas to other facilities and colleagues
- distribute staff newsletters or tips from the Case Management Training Monthly, plus updates on clinical issues, such as drug shortages and influenza outbreaks
Tip: If a member of your case management or medical staff is reluctant to provide you with an e-mail address, suggest that he or she set up an e-mail account for his or her practice. The staff can then monitor and print messages, which takes the same amount of time or less as opening regular mail or picking up faxes.
