Safety of hospital care improving

Case Management Insider, November 3, 2015

Hospitals are safer than they used to be, thanks to a drop in the number of hospital-acquired conditions (HAC) such as pressure ulcers, infections, and adverse drug events, according to a report from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

An analysis from the organization shows that HACs saw a 17% decline between 2010 and 2013. It’s estimated that this translates into some 50,000 lives saved and a $12 billion reduction in healthcare costs.
