Deaf patients lack translation services

Does your organization have translators in place to help patients who are deaf or hard of hearing? Some patients in Maryland hospitals say this is not always the case and can be a big problem.

While federal disability law requires hospitals to provide translation services to those who are deaf or hard of hearing, experts say what they’re doing isn’t always adequate to meet the need. In Maryland, The Governor's Office of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing is working to make improvements in this area.
