AHA: We're unhappy with aspects of the proposed inpatient rule for 2016
Case Management Insider, June 30, 2015
CMS should have addressed the 2-midnight rule, but didn’t in the fiscal year 2016 IPPS proposed rule, according to the American Hospital Association (AHA).
Because it wasn’t addressed, the AHA is now asking that the partial enforcement delay of the rule be extended until March 16, 2016.
“This will not only provide additional time for CMS to issue guidance related to any new policies or admission criteria for hospitals and review contractors; it will allow hospitals time to implement changes put forth by the agency. Additionally, we ask the agency to repeal the unlawful 0.2 percent reduction to the standardized amount that was implemented in FY 2014,” Rick Pollack, AHA executive vice president, wrote in the proposed rule comments to CMS.
