C. diff infections lead to readmissions

A new study published in the American Journal of Infection Control shows that Clostridium difficile (C. diff) infections often land people back in the hospital after discharge.

Study authors from the Detroit Medical Center looked at data to compare the number of readmissions among patients with C. diff infections versus those without. They found that patients with C. diff infections not only had more readmissions within 30 days of discharge, but they stayed in the hospital an additional five to six days than non-infected patients when they did come back.
